Mission of the Congregation Justice Committee
The purpose of the Congregation Justice Committee (CJC) is to help members
of the Congregation understand and address issues of poverty and social
injustice systemically and from a global perspective.

The CJC is responsible to:
- raise consciousness about justice issues among Congregation
members and within the broader society
- probe the interconnections among issues through theological
reflection and social analysis
- provide opportunities for justice education for the members
of the Congregation (e.g., publish articles in Congregational
publications, offer presentations at Congregation/Area gatherings,
sponsor workshops on justice issues, maintain a library of justice-related
resources)
- advocate action strategies
which promote the transformation of unjust structures
- network nationally and
internationally with individuals and groups working for social
justice
- participate fully in the initiatives proposed by the Holy
Cross International Justice Office.
The primary issues the Congregation addresses are:
- social & economic justice
- ecological integrity
- democracy, nonviolence and peace.
