Ministries of Holy Cross

Sisters of the Holy Cross live out Jesus’ gospel and mission by ministering in many different ways to people around the world. Addressing unmet needs in a variety of cultures and settings, we minister in large hospitals and small outreach clinics; in elementary and secondary schools and universities; in churches and parishes; in prisons; and in the streets of the inner city and remote rural areas of eight countries on four continents. A Place for Women to Gather provides a welcoming place, programs and services to foster spiritual and human growth for women.

     
Academy of the Holy Cross, Kensington, Maryland

The Academy of the Holy Cross, a Catholic college preparatory school sponsored by the Sisters of the Holy Cross since 1868, is dedicated to educating young women in a Christ-centered community which values diversity.  (more-->)

   
Catholic Charities, OASIS, Camarillo, California

The Older Adults Services and Intervention System (OASIS) program provides seniors (60 years and older) with professional case management services and volunteer support that enable them to remain independent and avoid premature or unnecessary institutionalization.

Colégio Santa Maria, São Paulo, Brazil

Over the past 50 years, Colégio Santa Maria has grown into a comprehensive Holy Cross education system consisting of 70 classes of nearly 2,000 paying students from preschoolers to high school seniors. In addition, evening classes offer free education to over 500 adults enrolled in basic literacy through secondary-level instruction. (more-->)

Established in 1972, Deaf-REACH maximizes the self-sufficiency of deaf adults needing special services by providing Referral, Education, Advocacy, Counseling and Housing. 

    
Father Peyton Family Institute, North Easton, Massachusetts

The Father Peyton Family Institute conducts research aimed at increasing the spiritual and emotional well-being of families everywhere. With this information it is able to identify needs and develop educational programs and materials for improving family communication.

    
Holy Cross and Hispanic Ministry, Austin, Texas

The Holy Cross and Hispanic Ministry offers support and continuing professional education about this specialized ministry for Holy Cross religious.

     
Holy Cross College and High School, Dhaka, Bangladesh

Holy Cross College in Dhaka, founded in 1951, was the first Christian women’s college in the country, and presently enrolls approximately 1,000 Muslim, Hindu and Christian students. Holy Cross High School, also begun in 1951, has grown into a comprehensive regional resource that serves over 1,500 students.

    
Holy Cross Hospital, Silver Spring, Maryland

Located in the culturally and economically diverse Washington, D.C. area, Holy Cross Hospital stands as the largest community hospital in Maryland, serving nearly 100,000 patients each year. The hospital is also the largest accredited teaching hospital in Montgomery County (Md.) with physician residency programs affiliated with George Washington University and Children’s National Medical Center.

    
Holy Cross International Justice Office, Notre Dame, Indiana

The Holy Cross International Justice Office is a vehicle for creating a well-informed, unified, public Holy Cross voice which impacts the critical justice issues of our time. The current areas of focus for its work are global economic justice, ecological issues and minority rights.

Mount Carmel Health System, Columbus, Ohio

Founded in 1886 by the Sisters of the Holy Cross, Mount Carmel provides health care with compassion, acceptance, respect and empathy. It is one of the largest health-care providers in central Ohio, offering patient care in three respected hospitals, as well as in surgery centers, outpatient facilities, physicians' offices and community outreach sites.

   
Saint Agnes Medical Center, Fresno, California

Saint Agnes is recognized as the San Joaquin Valley's premier health-care provider of cardiovascular, oncology, neurological, orthopedic, gastrointestinal and general surgery services. Founded by the Sisters of the Holy Cross in 1929, it has grown from a 75-bed to a 330-bed full service medical and surgical facility.

    
Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center, Boise, Idaho

Founded in 1894 by the Sisters of the Holy Cross, Saint Alphonsus was the first hospital established in Boise. Today the medical center delivers advanced medical services in a spiritual, healing environment throughout Southwest Idaho, Eastern Oregon and Northern Nevada.

     
Saint Joseph Mercy Health System, Ann Arbor, Michigan

Saint Joseph Mercy Health System is a health-care network located in Michigan that serves Washtenaw, Livingston, Jackson, Lenawee, Monroe, western Wayne, and southwestern Oakland counties. It includes St. Joseph Mercy Hospital, Saint Joseph Mercy Saline Hospital and Saint Joseph Mercy Livingston Hospital. It also has outpatient centers, clinics and physician practices throughout the service area.

   
Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center, South Bend, Indiana

Founded in 1882 by the Sisters of the Holy Cross, Saint Joseph provides health services to the northern Indiana region. The organization comprises Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center-South Bend, Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center-Mishawaka, Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center-Plymouth, Edison Lakes Medical Center, Select Health Network (a physician-hospital organization), Saint Joseph VNA Home Care, and the Saint Joseph Physician Network.

    
Saint Mary’s College, Notre Dame, Indiana

Saint Mary’s College is a Catholic, residential, women’s college in the liberal arts tradition. Founded by the Sisters of the Holy Cross in 1844, Saint Mary’s promotes a life of intellectual vigor, aesthetic appreciation, religious sensibility and social responsibility. (more-->)

   
Saint Vincent de Paul Regional Seminary, Boynton Beach, Florida

The Seminary provides a human, spiritual, academic and pastoral program to prepare candidates for the Roman Catholic priesthood. In response to the increased Hispanic presence of candidates in the United States, the seminary fosters a bilingual and multicultural environment. As a freestanding, graduate, professional School of Theology, it is secondarily committed to providing continuing education for clergy, religious and laity of all denominations.

St. Joseph Mercy Oakland, a longtime leader in health care in Oakland County, includes multi-specialty centers, outpatient programs, affiliated organizations, long-term living facilities and home care. 

     
SOAR!, Washington, D.C.

Support Our Aging Religious, Inc. (SOAR!) is a non-profit organization of persons who are committed to assuring financially stable and personally secure futures for elderly and frail members of Catholic religious congregations in the United States, augmenting the efforts of the institutional Church.

   
The Women’s Circle, Boynton Beach, Florida

The Women’s Circle is a not-for-profit organization that encourages women in their pursuit of education, employment and personal goals. It offers a comprehensive, four-part program for low-income women, including English and literary classes, computer training and job preparation programs.

    
Trinity Health, Novi, Michigan

Created by the consolidation of Holy Cross Health System and Mercy Health Services, Trinity Health blends and carries on two rich traditions of serving persons in need. 

    
Victory Noll, Huntington, Indiana

Victory Noll is the motherhouse of Our Lady of Victory Missionary Sisters, an American missionary congregation that serves the poor in a personal, non-institutional way in the United States and Bolivia. Theirs is a “prophetic ministry promoting justice for the poor and oppressed with an emphasis on women.”    

    
Villanova Preparatory School, Ojai, California

Villanova Preparatory School is a non-profit Roman Catholic school operated under the auspices of the Western Province of the Order of St. Augustine. Located in the Ojai Valley, it is a coeducational preparatory school that offers both boarding and day programs for grades 9-12 and a sheltered English only program of English as a Second Language (ESL).
