A Season of Wonder

Advent is the season of preparation, a preparation to welcome anew the
God of Peace in our hearts and lives. We are keenly aware of the
situations in our world that continue to worsen with regard to the
escalating prices of food and gasoline, the declining financial market,
the recent communal violence in India and the continuation of war. What do
all these events call us to as we prepare to welcome Jesus, the Prince of
Peace? During this Advent, Sister Patricia Cornell invites us to “stay
awake” and pray, as we ready ourselves for the celebration of “God
with us.” Let us listen deeply to the cries of longing for the
revelation of God and be open to the surprises and wonders of God in the
midst of all the adversity and strife around us.
May this Advent season help us welcome Jesus, the Emmanuel and the
Wonder Worker, with all our hearts and lead us toward the “New Earth”
promised to us.
